On June 20th, the time had come: Dr. Nicole Oesterreich, PD Dr. Felix John, and Andrej Lacko opened the doors to a fascinating journey through time into antiquity! At the Long Night of Sciences directly in the winter garden of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig, we presented exciting insights into our work at our booth.

Ancient Delicacies and Authentic Craftsmanship

At our Roman buffet, culinary delicacies awaited that already delighted people 2000 years ago. Additionally, we offered our own papyrus workshop: Here visitors could craft their own reed brush and write names in Greek or Hebrew on genuine papyrus.

Sorcery and Magic

Things became particularly exciting with our text collection on the topic of magic and sorcery. Those who wished could delve into excerpts from the Sibylline Oracles, the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, or the Prayer of Jacob, gaining surprising insights into the magical concepts of antiquity.

An Evening Full of Curiosity

The incredible curiosity and interest from all age groups was surprising even to us! From little budding archaeologists to theology-enthusiastic seniors – they all wanted to learn more about our research project.

Until Next Time!

The Long Night of Sciences 2025 was a wonderful experience for us. We hope to see you again next time – with more ancient surprises!
