EABS Annual Conference 2026

On July 20–23, 2026, Nicole Oesterreich and Andrej Lacko took part in the annual conference of the EABS (European Association of Biblical Studies) at KU Leuven. Both presented a paper: "Adam, Christ, and the Messianic Bull. The Animal Apocalypse as Parallel to Paul's Eschatology?" (Nicole Oesterreich, in the panel "Living in the Last Days: New Testament Eschatology and its Contexts") and "The God-fearing Women in 1 Tim 2:10: θεοσέβεια Between Virtue and Social Category" (Andrej Lacko, in the panel "New Testament within Judaism"). The brief discussions following each paper not only provided important feedback, they also reflected a growing interest in the CJHNTdigital project. Scholars at German universities in particular are already familiar with our work, and are looking forward to our first commentaries.

Besides many exciting talks and discussions, there were numerous opportunities to meet colleagues from all over Europe, gather new impulses, and take part in scholarly discourses. Three plenary sessions addressed the latest findings in biblical archaeology and Gospel research.

The picturesque city of Leuven also offered excellent opportunities to talk about joint projects during the scarce free time. Colleagues from Prague, Tübingen, Vienna, Bratislava, and many other places expressed great interest in taking part in our conferences, workshops, and study days. We are, of course, looking forward to all future encounters.
