CJHNTdigital at the SBL International/EABS Annual Meeting
Six project members, Nicole Oesterreich, Serhii Smahlo, Matthew Munson, Paulus Enke, Carl Voigt and Andrej Lacko participated in the international joint conference of the SBL (Society of Biblical Literature) and EABS (European Association of Biblical Studies) in Uppsala, Sweden, from June 23–27, 2025. Our project members gave presentations with the following titles:
- Dr. Nicole Oesterreich: When Two Parallel Lines Meet: On the Methodological Approach to the Correlation of (Early Jewish) Texts
- Dr. Matthew Munscon: CJHNTdigital: Making Hellenistic Jewish Sources Openly Available
- Dr. Serhii Smahlo: Chosen to Save the Unchosen? The Role of the Group of the Elect in Mk 13
- Andrej Lacko: Boundaries and Beyond: The Shifting Landscape of Jewish Identity and Mission between Matthew 10:5 and 28:19
Besides our own papers, we attended numerous presentations by other speakers, participated in fascinating scholarly discussions, and vigorously promoted our project within the international biblical studies community. The exchange with colleagues from various countries and denominations once again broadened our horizons and opened up new perspectives on current research questions. Moreover, we received much constructive feedback on our project. Last but not least, we were able to establish new contacts and gain potential partners for future research endeavors and collaborations, particularly in digital humanities.
We are delighted our project has been so positively received and appreciated after such a short time, and we appreciate all the constructive feedback. Until next time in Leuven!
